OUTLINING OF CROWDS (photo and video)

As a photographer, Isabelle Grosse has developed a personal visual process called “Outlining”, in which she frames groups (crowds, cities, objects, landscapes) within images to reveal  collective forms. In 2005, Isabelle Grosse started to develop an outdoor interactive video project which questioned collective mobility. She is the author of « Upstream », a monumental interactive video installation which was set up in front of the Paris City Hall during the well-known “Nuit Blanche 2005″. This same installation was shown the following year on one of the most famous squares of Bucarest (Romania). The artist’s work implicitly states that our way of occupying space responds to the structure we live in. The art of Isabelle Grosse relies on both groups and individual.
